A delegation led by UNESCO Deputy Director-General Åsa Regnér is currently paying an official visit to Mongolia. On August 24, 2026, Ms. Regnér met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs G. Amartuvshin to exchange views on expanding cooperation between Mongolia and UNESCO. Dr. Ch. Munkhtuul, Director of the International Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilizations (IISNC), also attended the meeting and presented a brief overview of the institute’s current operations.

During the discussions, both sides addressed several key initiatives, focusing on strengthening the operations of the International Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilizations, boosting the participation of Mongolian experts within UNESCO, and continuing support for the ongoing “History of Nomadic Civilizations” project.
