ЮНЕСКО-ийн ивээл дор Нүүдлийн соёл иргэншлийг судлах олон улсын хүрээлэн нь Монгол Улсын Ерөнхийлөгчийн тамгын газар, Хан Хэнтийн улсын тусгай хамгаалалттай газрын хамгаалалтын захиргаа, Бурхан Халдун уул, түүнийг хүрээлсэн тахилгат газар нутгийн хамгаалалтын захиргаа, Дэлхийн Мөрөөдлийн сургууль НҮТББ-тай хамтран “Бурхан Халдун хайрхны түүх, соёлын судалгаа” сэдэвт эрдэм шинжилгээний хурлыг 2024.02.19-ний өдөр Төрийн ордны Сүхбаатар танхимд амжилттай зохион байгууллаа. Хуралд илтгэлээ толилуулсан эрдэмтэн судлаачиддаа гүн талархал илэрхийлье.

The “Values of Nomads” symposium has successfully taken place.

The “Values of Nomads” symposium has successfully taken place at the ‘Nomadic’ Research and Education center of the Knowledge Hub and Library, IISNC under the auspices of UNESCO, throughout the framework of the “Creative Cultural Month” campaign. The symposium is a part of our ongoing project “Baseline Study of Cultural Values of Mongolia and Inner Asian Nomads”, which is being implemented between 2022 and 2024, in cooperation with the Mongolian Foundation for Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Education. The research is led by People’s Teacher of Mongolia, State Honored Scientist, Doctor of Science in Linguistics, Professor Dulam Sendenjav.

Having given a speech at the opening ceremony, Munkhtuul Chuluunbaatar /PhD/, Director of the Institute and Mr Davaatseren Byambasuren, Head of the Department for Cultural Heritage noted that the Institute’s operation and the scope of research keeps extending in recent years. The Keynote speech was taken by Professor Bum-Ochir Dulam /PhD/, Chairman of the Academic Council, IISNC and Cultural and Religious Policy Advisor to the President of Mongolia. While, two-panel sessions of the symposium were chaired by the research project leader, Professor Dulam Sendenjav /ScD/ and the Academic Council member, Professor Tynchtykbek Chorotegin Tchoroev /PhD/ of the Kyrgyz National University. Some 10 researchers and scholars from different 5 countries, including autonomous republics, presented their research outcomes and discussed on the theories, concepts and traditional knowledge about the values of Mongols, the values among Mongols and states and countries with traditions of nomadic culture.

His Excellency, Mr Koishibayev Gabit Beibituly, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Mongolia, Mr Ali Said Serdengecti, Deputy Head of the Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye to Mongolia, other guests and researchers attended the symposium. Having shared his comments during the Keynote speech and the Panel 2 discussion, Ambassador Koishibayev Gabit Beibituly emphasised that the Kazakh ‘stan’, which means the land of Kazakh, is a multi-ethnic state that its population consists of various ethnicities.

The event organization team consisted of the whole staff of the Secretariat, including researchers and interns, representation of the Dream World School NGO and the students of the “President’s Scholar 2100” Scholarship Program. The Secretariat presents its sincere gratitude to all esteemed professors, scholars and colleagues and to all distinguished guests for their contribution to the success of the symposium.

Launching new “Journal of Intercultural Dialogue” and call for papers

As a UNESCO Category 2 Institute for the study of nomadic civilizations, we value open and respectful intercultural dialogue for building a sustainable and peaceful world, and with the aim of preserving and promoting cultural diversity of humankind and engaging it in academic discussions, we are pleased to announce the launch of a new academic journal, the Journal of Intercultural Dialogue (JID).

About Journal: Journal of Intercultural Dialogue is an interdisciplinary, multilingual journal committed to promoting excellence in research across a wide range of topics within the field of intercultural studies. The journal aims to provide a platform for scholars, researchers and professionals from around the world to publish research results dedicated to advancing research and knowledge in intercultural studies. We welcome contributions that explore the theoretical and practical aspects of cultural studies and intercultural dialogue and foster a deeper understanding of the subject and its implications.

Call for Papers: We invite researchers, academics, and professionals to submit their original research articles, review papers, and case studies for consideration in our inaugural issue. Topics of interest for submission include but are not limited to:

  • Submissions must be original and should not have been published elsewhere.
  • Manuscripts can be submitted in Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Mongolian and Turkish languages of the Institute’s Member States, as well as in other research languages such as Russian, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean. This multilingual journal supports cultural diversity and dissemination of academic knowledge in native languages.
  • Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word or in a compatible format.
  • The title page should include the title of the paper, author(s) name(s), institutional affiliation, email address.
  • Abstract (150-250 words), keywords and title of the paper should be written in English and chosen language.
  • Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1.5 line spacing, and 2 cm margins on all sides.
  • The complete papers must have a maximum of 20 pages of A4 size.
  • JID follows the Chicago Manual of Style (CMS) for citations and references. Use author-date in-text citations and include a bibliography at the end of the paper.
  • If your paper includes figures or tables, ensure they are clear, labeled, and cited in the text. Provide captions for figures and tables. Figures should be submitted for publication at resolutions of 300 DPI.

Our young researchers have successfully conducted research projects in Kazakhstan

Our young researchers, Bumbayar Bavuudorj and Munkhochir Surenjav, have successfully conducted fieldwork on research projects in Central Asia in Astana, Zhezkazgan, and Almaty cities of Kazakhstan. During the field trip, they visited the National Commission for UNESCO of the Republic of Kazakhstan and discussed the decisions of the Fifth General Assembly session of IISNC. Besides, they exchanged ideas regarding cooperation and implementing joint research projects with the Institute of History and Ethnology named under Ch. Ch. Valikhanov (Ministry of Education and Science), following up on the MoU between the two institutes.

Mongolian traditional rituals and festive

G. Zulbaatar, Research and Program Coordinator, has recently conducted fieldwork on the project “Mongolian traditional rituals and festive” in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, China, and Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Researchers from IISNC participated in the international academic conference

Researchers from IISNC participated in the international academic conference “The Golden Horde/Ulus of Jochy and Ulytau” organized at the ‘Mausoleum of Jochi’ complex, Ulytau region, Republic of Kazakhstan. Some 11 researchers and scholars from the USA, Austria, Australia, Hungary, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Japan and South Korea have participated in the conference. Our young researchers, Bumbayar Bavuudorj and Munkhochir Surenjav, presented some outcomes of the research project on studying the worshipping rituals and practices of nomads, which is being implemented by IISNC in 2023.
