The field research for the project, ” Study on the Development of Young Herders,” has been successfully organized and completed in August and September 2025. The study was carried out in the soum of Ikhtamir in Arkhangai aimag, and Delgertsogt and Saintsagaan soums in Dundgovi aimag.
This project is being executed by the International Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilizations (IISNC) under the auspices of UNESCO, and commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth of Mongolia. The goal of this research is to realistically determine issues concerning the social status of young herders, their family and living environments, income diversification, productivity, and the effectiveness of state policies. By identifying the challenges they face, the study aims to develop recommendations for policymakers.
